            National Philanthropy Day® is a special day to recognize the contributions of philanthropy, as well as those active within the philanthropic community, whose efforts and generosity continue to enrich our world and our lives. National Philanthropy Day® is AFP San Antonio Chapter’s largest annual fundraiser, with proceeds benefiting member scholarships and programming.


Since 1980 San Antonio’s Association of Fundraising Professionals has honored 160 philanthropists, philanthropic foundations and corporations, youth in philanthropy, volunteer fundraisers and outstanding fundraising professionals for their work in helping our friends, neighbors and those who are unable to help themselves. We are ready to honor a new group for their work in our community for the community.




Jimenez Family Receives Legacy Award

San Antonio, TX November 16, 2018. The Association of Fundraising Professionals San Antonio Chapter, has recently selected the Jimenez Family to receive their highest honor, the Legacy Award. Since 1979, the Jimenez Family has been providing a Thanksgiving meal for San Antonio’s forgotten. Now in its’ 38th year, the Jimenez Thanksgiving meal currently serves over 24,000 senior and needy citizens.


The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) is the professional association of individuals and organizations that generate philanthropic support for a wide variety of charitable institutions. Founded in 1960, AFP advances philanthropy through its more than 30,000 members in 230 chapters throughout the world including here in San Antonio. The San Antonio chapter has grown to over 300 members today. At the local level, AFP San Antonio provides members a network of hundreds of energetic, committed fellow practitioners; hosts regular seminars, workshops and an annual conference; and offers access to career opportunities and resources through our sponsors. Our 300 members represent the full range of nonprofit organizations including education, health care, human services, youth development and arts, as well as faith-based groups and critical areas of expertise in fundraising and communications.


National Philanthropy Day (NPD) was created by the Association of Fundraising Professionals in 1985. In short, NPD is a celebration of philanthropy—giving, volunteering and charitable engagement—that highlights the accomplishments, large and small, that philanthropy— and all those involved in the philanthropic process—makes to society and the world. This year, the Association of Fundraising Professional San Antonio Chapter, will be hosting a National Philanthropy Day luncheon on February 14, 2019 It is at this event the Jimenez Family will receive the Legacy of Giving award.
